The house
Casa Amparo is a country house in Alcoleja, up in the mountains inland from Alicante, and it is rented out whole. The entire house is yours: no reception desk, no strangers in the next room and no timetable other than your own.
It has four bedrooms, two full bathrooms, two dining rooms and two kitchens, plus a courtyard with a private pool and a barbecue. It sleeps up to 12 people and works just as well for a group of four. For larger groups, ask us.
It is a proper village house, with its fireplaces and its original furniture, but with what you need today: heating, wifi, washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, oven and microwave. Bed linen and towels are included. If you travel with a baby, there is a cot and a high chair. Pets are welcome, and smoking indoors is not allowed.
Where we are
Alcoleja is the last village before you climb the Aitana, the highest mountain in the province of Alicante, in the Comtat district. This is real mountain country: there is no traffic noise here, and what you hear at night is a village asleep.
And you do not have to give up the sea for it: the beach is an hour away by car. You can spend the morning on the coast and be back for dinner in the courtyard.
The house is at Carrer Nou, 2, in the upper part of the village. Coming in off the road, the first street on the right is Carrer Sant Miquel; then left, and up again along Carrer del Trinquet. You cannot miss it. There is no parking of its own, but you can park easily on the village streets and in the plaza del Mestre, right next door.
Who it suits
Casa Amparo works especially well for large groups and families who want everyone under one roof: family gatherings, celebrations, trips with friends, or the kind of Christmas where nobody wants to sleep in a different hotel.
In winter people come for the fireplaces, which are what make a mountain house feel like a home. In summer, for the private pool: it is yours alone, no shared shifts and no strangers on the loungers, and the courtyard is big enough to eat outside and spend the whole afternoon without crossing paths with anyone.
And all year round, for the mountains. Hiking routes and road and mountain biking routes start at the door, and the Safari Aitana is twelve kilometres away. The setting alone is worth the trip.

What to visit
You are in the middle of the Sierra de Aitana, with the mountain starting where the village ends. These are the places we recommend to people staying at the house, from the one two hundred metres away to the one worth a whole morning.
Safari Aitana
Enjoy a wild and natural experience in spectacular surroundings, located at 1000 meters of altitude and covering an area of 1.500.000 m2. The SAFARI AITANA is a reservation for wild animals from five continents.
Beniafé
Beniafé is only a few km from Alcoleja, in the hillside of the Aitana mountain. It's accessible on foot and by car.
Jardín de Santos
It's a beautiful botanical garden containing valuable species like yews, cedars from Lebanon, pines or magnolis. There's also a labyrinth and a pond hidden among lookouts and flower beds.
La Font del Arbre
It's a recreation area belonging to Aitana Mountain, so it's a beautiful place to rest and recover strenght.
Castillo de los Marqueses de Malferit
The castle "Marqueses de Malferit" is located right next to the church and is nowadays a residential house. A notable feature is it's main tower, which is now a part of the landscape. Destaca su torre principal, que ya forma parte del paisaje urbano.
Guadalest
It's located on a high peak, built-into a rocky outcrop which is traversed by a man made tunnel excavated into the rock. The spot is both surprising and spectacular, besides which, it is surrounded by the “Sierra de Aitana”, the “Sierra de Serrella” and the “Sierra de Xortà”. To breathe the atmosphere of the Parades’s Day is an unforgettable experience. Local pool in Alolecha is a few minutes walking from the village. It is located next to a colonial style mansion whose owner ordered its construction when he was in Sudámerica.

With a weather allowing to go to the beach 365 days a year, the village that used to be a charming a picturesque fishing village in the 1960s is today on of the most succesfull destionations of the mediterranean coast. You can enjoyr there the mediterranean New York.
